They just can’t help themselves.

Shortly after Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders opened at retailers across Canada, scalpers have already flocked to the web to sell their own pre-orders at much higher prices.

On eBay Canada, you’ll find a ton of listings for over $1,000, while others are priced in the $900 range. Some even reach as high as $2,000. This is well above the respective $629 and $699 price tags for the Switch 2 console and Mario Kart World bundles. Amusingly, there’s also at least one listing that’s priced lower and is actually just a picture of a Switch 2 pre-order, which the seller says is to “combat bots and scalpers.”

Given that that this is only day one for pre-orders, it’s likely that scalpers will raise their prices even further, especially as we get closer to the console’s June 5 launch. Nintendo itself has even warned that the invite-only pre-orders it’s offering through its website may not arrive until after the Switch 2 release date.

In the meantime, for more on the Switch 2, check out our hands-on impressions of both the console and its games, as well as our interviews with the main hardware architects and Nintendo of America’s Nate Bihldorff.
