Taylor Swift’s spokesperson is speaking out after the pop star was reportedly subpoenaed in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s “It Ends With Us” legal case.

According to Swift’s rep, the singer has no connection to the film other than the use of her song “My Tears Richochet” for the soundtrack, adding that the subpoena was issued in an attempt to use Swift to create “tabloid clickbait” instead of focusing on the case.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,” the statement reads.

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” the statement continues. “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

Freedman and Lively’s attorneys did not immediately respond in NBC News and TODAY.com’s request for comment.

Baldoni and Blake are scheduled to go on trial in March 2026.

After the release of “It Ends With Us” in August, Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, claiming that on multiple occasions he crossed the line on set during intimate scenes and harrassd her on set, according to an administrative complaint filed Dec. 20, 2024 and obtained by TODAY.com.

Weeks later, Lively then filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios, producer Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s publicist Jennifer Abel, crisis publicist Melissa Nathan and others connected to the director and the film, arguing that she had been a victim of a smear campaign and sexual harassment, per NBC News-obtained court documents.

Baldoni’s attorney denied the allegations at the time, and in response, in January 2025, he sued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds publicist Leslie Sloane and her PR firm of defamation and other contractual claims.

Lively’s team, in a statement to NBC News at the time, denied the allegations.

Swift’s name came into play after Baldoni and his team created a website about the lawsuit against Lively, which includes their complaint as well as alleged emails and texts from people who worked on “It Ends With Us.”

One email claims that Lively would “change her mind” about calling Swift to use “My Tears Ricochet” for the trailer “if her demands are not met.”

Lively’s reps did not respond to TODAY.com’s request for comment on the launch of the website and its content at the time.

In February, Lively filed an amended complaint against Baldoni, claiming she “was not alone in raising allegations of on-set misconduct,” according to the complaint obtained by NBC News. At the time, Baldoni’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
