US President Donald Trump has teased a ‘very, very big announcement’ set for May 8, revealing a ‘major trade deal’ with a ‘big, highly respected country’. The announcement comes just before crucial US-China trade talks in Switzerland, where escalating tensions have led to over 100% duties on imports between the two largest economies. Trump, known as the ‘dealmaker-in-chief,’ has disrupted global trade with tariffs, and trade deals with India, the UK, South Korea, and Japan are nearing finalisation.
