Advantage, Prince Albert Raiders.

Justice Christiansen scored at 3:31 of overtime to give the visiting Raiders a 4-3 victory over the host Saskatoon Blades on Sunday.

It was Christiansen’s second tally of the game as the Raiders not only took the extra point Sunday for the OT win but also earned a sweep in the weekend home-and-home series.

“It’s been a disappointing weekend in terms of results,” said Blades head coach Dan DaSilva, whose team dropped a 6-3 decision to the Raiders on Friday in P.A.. “On Friday, I think we played a really solid last 40 and, tonight, some errors by some veteran players that you wouldn’t expect and the bad bounce for the third one — but, again, this is a resilient group and we fought back to tie it up. And, obviously, in overtime, anything can happen.

“It’s a positive that it’s a point (earned by the Blades) and we can back to we-get-better-everyday mentality this week and we take care of lessons and we move on.”

Prince Albert has moved ahead of Saskatoon for top spot in the Western Hockey League’s East Division. The Raiders improved to 25-15-3-0 and 53 points, good enough for second place in the Eastern Conference as the current East Division leader.

The Blades currently sit second in the East Division and sixth overall in the WHL’s Eastern Conference with a 23-16-3-3 record and 52 points.

On Sunday, Rowan Calvert netted a pair of power play goals to lead Saskatoon, which held 1-0 and 2-1 leads earlier in the game.

“The biggest thing for us is that we’re not just on our heels, and just having to defend once we get the lead,” noted DaSilva. “We don’t want to be a team who is just sitting back; we want to not just push for offence but be smart about it, through the neutral zone … and not forcing stuff in the offensive zone.

“We still want to play on our toes and definitely not sit back and let them come at us, wave after wave … I think the best defence is offence, just getting down to the other end, and grounding-and-pounding mentality and running them down and not give up any transition.”

Tyler Parr scored the equalizer with 5:49 remaining in regulation to force extra time.

The Blades went 2-for-3 on the power play. The Raiders were 0-for-2 with the man-advantage.

Tomas Mrsic and Riley Boychuk also scored for Prince Albert, which got out-shot 36-28.

Max Hildebrand stopped 33 shots in the Raiders net for the win.

Evan Gardner made 24 saves for the Blades.

BLADE BITS:  Announced attendance was 4,318 … 1) Christiansen, 2) Calvert and 3) Hildebrand … Defenceman Jack Kachkowski, who had been sidelined by injury, made his home debut for the Blades Sunday. Kachkowski, who is among those listed in the NHL Scouting Bureau rankings for North American skaters, was acquired in a trade with Medicine Hat Tigers … The Blades return to action Friday at home against the Wenatchee Wild with Les Lazaruk Bobblehead Night. Game-time is 7 p.m. at SaskTel Centre. On Sunday afternoon, the Blades will host the Moose Jaw Warriors at SaskTel Centre. Game-time is 4 p.m.
